Matthew F. Coughlin, III
Matthew F. Coughlin, III serves as Managing Partner for INTERNATIONAL INSURANCE
In 2003, Coughlin's dream of creating a client-focused insurance brokerage firm
became a reality with the formation of INTERNATIONAL INSURANCE BROKERS, LTD. Immediately
prior to forming IIB, Coughlin had been commuting to New York, serving as a Managing
Director of a large international insurance brokerage firm. During the course
of his career, he has served as President and CEO of several divisions of large
international insurance brokerage firms.
Coughlin is a philanthropic supporter of community service organizations. He
has served on the board of directors of a multitude of arts, Catholic and civic
organizations. He currently serves on the board at Cascia Hall Preparatory School,
where he is immediate past Chairman and on the board of The Catholic Foundation
of Eastern Oklahoma. He was an elected member of the Bayonne Board of Education
before moving to Oklahoma.
Born in Bayonne, New Jersey, Coughlin now considers himself an Oklahoman. He
and his family have also lived in New York and Texas. He feels at home in the
insurance centers of Europe, having spent several years in London over the course
of his career - "a week at a time." Coughlin received a Bachelor of Science degree
from Saint John's University in New York.
Michael D. Harveth
Michael D. Harveth serves as a Partner with INTERNATIONAL INSURANCE BROKERS,
Prior to joining IIB, Harveth served as Managing Director for an international
financial services company, responsible for the company's operations in Oklahoma,
Kansas, Arkansas and Missouri. Harveth began his insurance career as a registered
representative with one of the nation's premier life insurance companies.
Harveth grew up in suburban Detroit, Michigan. He received a bachelor's degree
in Business Administration-Marketing from Western Michigan University. Harveth
served in the United States Navy. In addition to Vietnam service, he was selected
to the prestigious U.S. Navy Ceremonial Guard and the crew of the Presidential
yacht "Sequoia" in Washington, D.C.
Edwin G. Laney
Edwin G. (Ed) Laney serves as partner of INTERNATIONAL INSURANCE BROKERS, LTD.
Laney has served in both risk management and insurance brokerage capacities over
his 27-year insurance career. Laney joined IIB in January 2004. In June 2001 he
joined a former client, Express Personnel Services, serving as Director of Risk
Management. Previously, Laney was Senior Vice President of two of the largest
global insurance brokerage firms in the capacity of broker and/or consultant for
energy sector clients, transportation clients, personnel supply clients and others.
Laney began his career as a risk manager with Commercial Shearing of Youngstown,
OH, a steel shearing, hydraulics and foundry operation.
Laney grew up in Albany, GA. Laney graduated from the University of Georgia with
an MBA - Risk Management major and Finance minor. Laney has obtained the Chartered
Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation, and was awarded the Meritorious
Award by Express Personnel Services.
Kenneth L. Brune
Kenneth L. Brune serves as General Counsel of INTERNATIONAL INSURANCE BROKERS,
Brune is a senior partner of Brune & Neff, P.C., located in Tulsa, Oklahoma,
and is admitted to the bar in Iowa and Oklahoma. He has focused in his law practice
on business, complex litigation, energy, transportation, commercial law and estate
He has served as an Assistant District Attorney, a Special District Judge and
a member of the Temporary Court of Appeals of the State of Oklahoma. He has been
a frequent lecturer at the University of Tulsa College of Law and the Tulsa County
Bar Association's Departments of Continuing Legal Education on energy, transportation
and corporate and business litigation issues. He received an M.A. from the University
of Iowa and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Tulsa.
Brune has served as President of the Tulsa County Bar Association, President
of the Board of Education of the School of St. Mary and has also been active in
the United Way. He has served as a Director of Legal Services of Eastern Oklahoma
for ten years, including three years as President. He also served as President
of the University of Tulsa College of Law Alumni Association. He is a Fellow of
the American Bar Foundation.
Brune served with the U.S. Army as a combat officer in the Republic of South
Vietnam, where he was awarded the Bronze Star.
